Brutalist buildings
Brutalist architecture is an architectural style that emerged during the 1950s in the United Kingdom,
among the reconstruction projects of the post-war era.
Brutalist buildings are characterised by minimalist constructions that showcase the bare building materials and structural elements over decorative design.

My version of Simon Phipps photography
These pictures are taken at Camden town hall annex i have taken a variety of pictures of this building from different angles like Simon Phipps does in his work the next step in this process is to then in Photoshop make the most successful pictures black and white
Edited version
Now that the most successful pictures are in black and white which helps enhance the contrasts in colours and details

Examples of his work:
The series of his work i am looking at is his Brutalism project which is a collaboration with Black Dragon press about Brutalism architecture in London specifically using brutalist style buildings as the bases for his work, this series consists of black and white style work reduced to simple lines like with his other work.
This series consists of three A2 poster, 5 colors screen print, edition of 100, numbered and signed.

Thomas Kellner
Thomas Kellner is a German fine-art photographer, lecturer and curator.
He became known above all for his large-format photographs of famous architectural monuments, which, through many individual images and a shifted camera perspective, look like "photo mosaics"

My response to Thomas Kellner:

Editing process:
-First thing i have to do before i can move to photoshop to edit is to find a clear focused picture of a skull which i will then edit onto the persons face
- Now that i have both of my pictures i can combine them in photoshop to do this i drag the skull picture over to the other picture so they are overlapping
- Next in this process i need to add in a layer mask which is in the bottom corner this serves so that i can erase the right parts of my image so that the two fit together properly
- With the layer mask set i can now make my image black and white this makes the blending of the two images better and look smoother creating the illusion of a singular photograph
|
-Next thing to do is take the picture of the person when doing this i have them facing forwards so that the two pictures will line up better i also have a plain white background so that the subject will be the primary focus
-To help adjust the skull picture so its ruffly the same shape as the persons face i lower the opacity to 50% making it much easier to line up the features
